Choose your notifications

Stay reachable and decide how much a local message notification reveals.

On this page

Choose a preview level

Nothing
A generic message notice. Lockdown selects this level.
Sender
The locally resolved sender name, with no message preview. Standard and Enhanced select this level.
Sender & preview
The locally decrypted sender and up to 240 characters of the message. Choose this if you want to read more from the notification.

Notification text can remain in Notification Center or appear on paired devices. Choose the level you are comfortable showing there.

When Auris is closed

Remote message alerts use generic text because the service cannot open your message or read your contact's display name. A local notification after decryption can use your selected preview level.

Calls use a separate VoIP wake-up path. An authenticated hint from an established contact can let the phone resolve a name locally. Delivery also depends on iOS permissions, app state and network availability.

Using Lockdown

Lockdown selects generic local message notices and omits the optional wake token from anonymous-queue registration. Other registration paths still provide available APNs and VoIP tokens. Calls and other notifications can therefore still use push.

To change whether iOS shows Auris notifications, review Auris in the system notification settings.

Understand a missed-call notice

Auris distinguishes a generic missed attempt from a call attributed to a saved contact through authenticated evidence. A generic label can mean that the required evidence was not available.

If calls are not reaching you, check notification permissions and connectivity, then consult the calling guide.

How push delivery works

Apple routes notifications using a device/app token and sees the submitted payload and event timing. The observer ledger describes the message and call fields for each path.

For platform background-delivery rules, see Apple's background-push documentation.
